Teapots for Spring
A small ritual to welcome the new season.
With spring just around the corner, I’ve been thinking a lot about small seasonal rituals - opening the windows, letting fresh air into the house, and making a pot of tea in the afternoon.
Tea has long been part of welcoming the new season. In Japan, the first harvest of green tea each year is especially celebrated, seen as a sign that winter has passed and the growing season has begun again.
As the weather begins to warm, lighter teas start to feel right again: green tea, barley tea, or something floral.
To mark the shift into spring, I pulled together a few teapots from the Still Life collection - simple, beautiful pieces meant to be used often.
For the matcha people:
And a few miniatures to decorate with.
Often times, the simplest rituals are the ones we return to most.
Wishing you a gentle start to the new season.
